Illustration Children and Education

The freedom of creation and expression of any artist is indisputable. Then there are the ethical considerations about the role of artistic production. The purpose of children's illustration is to create a visual world around a text, or written by another author, or by the illustrator. There is no doubt that the early childhood years are crucial for human development in all its facets. At this stage, where the child is bombarded with countless stories, television footage, digital games and so on. Past, or rather historically, the story, as well as entertaining, was a means to introduce the child into the world of values, thinking and understanding the world around him. Hence, the moral was clear from almost all day ellos.Hoy in question has changed significantly. If we walked by a bookstore and browsed the myriad literary products observed for children with rare exceptions, that the shelves are full of tales and absurd and inconsistent stories, appealing to the eye, but empty of content minimum leave readers with a taste for his lectura.En some cases pure technical prowess-painting by the illustrator, some of great beauty, no doubt, and in other non-combustible texts that even adults who are supposed to understand but very profitable for editoriales.Ya ever mentioned the illustrator activity drifts have been events in which ignoring the basic objective of which I spoke, they have become great samples of creativity, originality and undeniable technical prowess.

But one thing is for creative research, an issue that we must never leave, and another, our responsibility as transmitters of universes and concepts to a child population that is forming in ellos.Creatividad yes, technically as well, but also and above all, commitment to new generations. This is not to become moralistic and doctrinaire, but when you're talking about in all international forums about the evils of the world, it would not hurt a deal of thought and generosity, putting our faculties in the service of creating a world mejor.La combination of these three aspects, word, image, and content is a challenge for the illustrator. Children's language is plain, simple, direct. Doing this well is an art of an adventure for the creator, insospechadas.Mucho dimensions are speaking now of digital versus traditional book. Will bird flu wipe printing on paper and with it the classic illustration? Another issue to consider is the level of visual information that children have today. 3D games, movies and stereotypical characters invoice made in USA, etc.. Can we be visible with visual alternatives? Seeing is not a mechanical power is given to us in our genetic package.

A "see?, We learn. Recently the field of illustration is contaminated by the prototypes of large multinationals that are shaping a particular way to understand the images. Against this, the creative illustration is immersed in a welter which sometimes result in solutions that reflect the confusion of that iconosphere own. There is much to reflect and see how events evolve. Meanwhile, it is waging a battle of David against Goliath.
