Static Bikes

Stationary bikes are devices that allow cycling fitness without leaving the site, mimicking the movements of the cycling sport that have great transfer. Mechanism have opposing friction brake pedal not to vacuum regulator to modify the intensity resistance and inertial system to be smooth pedaling. Stationary bikes allow you to work the lower body and perform an excellent cardiovascular workout.

Concept

Stationary bikes and indoor cycling allow commonly used for sports training for their low impact on joints, movement safety and effectiveness in cardiovascular exercise.

Stationary bikes are used for aerobic training, improving physical fitness, weight loss, rehabilitation, or to warm winter training before the races. It is a widely used exercise equipment both domestically and professionally in clubs and competition teams.

Type

Consider the static main types of bikes:

Vertical: available seat, pedals and handlebars, and allow to adopt a position similar to a conventional bicycle. Recumbent: you pedal seated in a back seat which prevents saddle sores, being suitable for elderly or people with back problems. Spinning: characterized by a heavy flywheel (20 kg or more) that accumulates kinetic energy and simulates the inertia of motion, allowing a pedal similar to conventional bicycles. Fixing rollers: are devices that allow immobilization and adapt conventional bicycles as static bikes. Without fixing rollers: they allow bikes to use conventional bicycles without immobilizing static wheels, so that not only trains the physical condition but also the balance and pedaling. The pedaling is smooth because it is a solid roller optimal moment of inertia. Mini: consist only of pedals and resistance, without saddle or handlebar, so they take up little space and are cheaper. They are placed in the ground and the user pedals sitting in a chair.

Resistance

Static bikes create resistance and allow grading the difficulty of pedaling, which may use different systems:

Mechanism of friction: friction provides direct resistance, adjustable by turning a lever. Flywheel: A heavy disc regulates resistance and ensures that the bike running smoothly. Magnetic resistance: eliminates mechanical friction and allows smooth and easily adjustable. Fluid Resistance: resists by a fan that moves air or oil, increased resistance as you pedal harder. Cyclo-computer

A cyclo-computer, cycle ergometer or bicycle ergometer is an electronic device that measures various cycling parameters and informs the user of the work.

Most stationary bikes indicate speed, mileage and time spent, while the most complete feature heart rate monitor, power meter, calories burned, exercise programs and a simulator that shows the user on a screen (TV, PC or display) circulating virtual landscapes with other cyclists, wind, ports, etc..
